My eldest son used to jump up in my bed when he was around 2 years old and carefully pile every pillow in the house on top of me. As I lay there, pleasantly smothered I could here his little voice asking me...

"...are you BASHED, daddy?...you BASHED?"

CASEY and BODIES

What a GREAT DAY...I took a page from my childhood and surprised Casey the morning of his 12th birthday.

"No School for you today, Casey"

"We are playing "Hookie" and taking you to MOSI to see BODIES"

This exhibition has caused quite a stir...using REAL bodies (mostly Asian male) as a cross between art and science and choosing TAMPA as it's first city to host this exhibition.

Here are some pictures I took of the day - the BODIES pics are from the book we bought in the gift shop...unfortunately NO CAMERAS were allowed in the museum.

Here is more about BODIES...

BODIES ... The Exhibition provides the public with a unique opportunity to see inside carefully preserved anatomical specimens and learn the detailed structure and function of the human body.

All of the anatomical specimens in BODIES ... The Exhibition are legally received and painstakingly prepared by medical university experts for the purpose of study and education. The end result is a human specimen that is examined without any deterioration due to normal decomposition.
The polymer preservation process allows a human tissue to be preserved enabling one to vividly showcase the complex intricacies of the human body. The process, along with others, is also used to supply anatomical specimens to medical schools as teaching aids.

"Our purpose in bringing this exhibition to MOSI is to enlighten, educate, empower and inspire," said Wit Ostrenko, President of the Tampa Museum of Science and Industry. "We hope that this exhibition will inspire young people to explore careers in medicine and will motivate everyone to make healthier life choices."

The exhibition features 20 body specimens, 260 organs and partial body specimens which provide a closer look at the skeletal, muscular, circulatory and respiratory systems. Nearly 20 million people throughout Europe and Asia have already visited similar exhibitions.

Dr. Roy Glover, Chief Medical Advisor for the exhibition, states, "As I've discovered in my more than 30 years of teaching anatomy to medical students, seeing promotes understanding and understanding promotes the most practical kind of body education possible. This exhibition gives its audience the power to see how amazing their bodies really are."

So after that MIND BENDING experience we took a break and tried out MOSI'S "Hurricane" wind tunnel, as if we needed to experience yet another hurricane...it was fun!

Casey really wanted a new SKATEBOARD so we headed back to St.Pete and stopped at the RENO BEACH SURF SHOP and he picked out a radical board...

Great Day...finished it off by opening the presents he received from all of you...and he THANKS YOU VERY MUCH! He loves the surfer shirts from Hawaii...and MONEY is always a big hit (those skateboards are NOT cheap) and he is STILL enjoying the LIGHT SABER kit!

Happy Birthday, Casey!
